Endless Horizon began as a series of digital photographs taken of the horizon line between sea and sky. I combined those images into a single image by connecting the various horizon lines into a large circle. I then created a 2-second looped GIF of the collaged image “spinning” endlessly along the horizon line. Next, I sent this GIF via text message and created a subsequent GIF from screenshots of the sent texts. In effect, this piece is about distancing, using technology as a medium with which to create that effect. From the initial experience of looking toward the horizon came the photographs, then the collaged image, then the GIF, then the texts and finally the GIF of the texts.
