Holes in the Digital Sphere
In the absence of the Google Street View car, users are able to construct and share 360-degree images stitched together around themselves with the Google Street View app. But if they forget to look up into the sky while documenting the space around them, Google fills the gap with a black circle. The blackness of the unknown looms in the digital sky above—a picture of the limits of the digital sphere. This piece shows all of the black holes in the digital Google Street View sky over Morocco, collected by taking screenshots while searching through all of the images.
